Update on face coverings indoors on campus

Categories: Campus, Health & safety

Today, Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, along with others in the Bay Area, issued a recommendation that everyone – regardless of vaccination status – wear face coverings indoors while in public places.

In following this public health guidance, Stanford now recommends that face coverings be worn in crowded indoor spaces on campus and requires their use in campus spaces that are open to the public, such as the Stanford Bookstore, publicly accessible dining areas and cafes, and the Cantor Arts Center.

While positivity rates for COVID-19 remain low in Santa Clara County and very low among our campus community, wearing face coverings in crowded indoor settings will help minimize spread of the virus, particularly the highly transmissible Delta variant.

We continue to encourage vaccinations for community members and their loved ones.

Thank you for your continued vigilance in following safety guidelines and the steps you are taking to protect each other.
