Provost Persis Drell and Russell Furr, associate vice provost, environmental health & safety, update the Stanford community on protocols for returning to campus following winter break. The university’s approach to supporting a healthy return to campus includes continued masking, enhanced COVID-19 testing, including an additional rapid test upon arrival for some students and limitations on student parties and some other gatherings for the start of the quarter.

In a message to the campus community, President Marc Tessier-Lavigne and Provost Persis Drell wrote that due to the continuing COVID-19 surge, lengthening public health restrictions and their likely impact on the on-campus undergraduate experience, Stanford unfortunately will not be able to have the frosh and sophomore classes on campus for the winter quarter as planned.

Vice Provost Sarah Church provides a revised schedule for winter quarter final exams that are still expected to take place. Timed remote final exams that had been scheduled to occur on Monday, March 16, have been moved to this Friday, March 20. Other due dates and deadlines also have been updated.

A message to winter quarter instructors requires that deadlines for all remaining exams, final papers and projects be delayed until further notice for all students, both graduate and undergraduate.
